Common questions about Lockey mechanical locks, installation, sizing, and compatibility.

Lockey Mechanical Locks

How do I measure the backset?
Measure from the edge of the door to the center of the hole (one simple measurement).
Right or left handed door — how do I tell?
From the outside of the door, the hinge side determines handing. Swing direction doesn’t matter.
Instructions call for a 22mm hole — I can’t find that bit
22mm is equivalent to a 1" bore.
Can the deadbolt be locked/unlocked from outside?
Yes. To lock from outside, turn the knob. To unlock, enter the combination and turn the knob.
How many combinations per lock at a time?
One combination per lock at a time.
ADA compliance
Yes — the 1150 & 2835 series.
What grade are the locks?
Grade 2.
Do all locks fit a 2-1/8" hole?
Yes — trim plates cover the standard 2-1/8" hole.
Door thickness compatibility
Fit 1-3/8" – 2". Extension kits available for thicker doors (up to ~5").
Adjustable vs. non-adjustable latches
Deadbolts include adjustable latches. Latch applications are not adjustable — specify 2-3/8" or 2-3/4".
Are Lockey key overrides compatible with Schlage / Weiser / Baldwin / Kwikset?
No. Lockey key overrides are unique to these locks; cylinders are non-removable and not interchangeable.
